As a member of the optionsXpress education team, I host many of the optionsXpress online webinars. One topic that’s popped up in several recent sessions is our new Beta Chains.

Want to try them for yourself? Simply Log in and click on Quotes > Chains > Try our Beta Chains.
With Beta Chains, a wealth of information about your positions and holdings is just a mouse scroll away. Want to see the quote book? Just scroll over the option symbol. Or, would you rather see the intrinsic and time value of an option? Just scroll over the strike price. But perhaps the best part of this feature is how simple it makes placing a trade.
If you are looking to place a trade on a Call or Put, you can easily enter the order by clicking on the Trade box to the right of the option, click once to buy or twice to sell. When you’re done adding legs, just click Trade at the bottom of the screen.
Beta Chains also come in handy if you trade calendar spreads or diagonals. Simply select Call Matrix or Put Matrix under Type at the top of the screen to view all the Calls and Puts available across a variety of months.
While great for beginning traders, Beta Chains may be most beneficial for more advanced investors because you can enter specific strategies such as condors and butterflies from them. Then, when you find the trade you want, just click Trade to load an auto-populated order form complete with all of your legs.
So go ahead, stretch those legs! Now you have room to do it all on one page!
