New Year, New Futures Enhancements

We’ve received a great deal of constructive feedback about how we can improve the optionsXpress Futures platform. We're working diligently to implement new features and functionality based on those ideas.

As 2008 gets underway, we're happy to announce a number of enhancements to help make futures trading at optionsXpress better than ever.

Here's a snapshot of just a few of the improvements we’ve already made:

- More Information: Now you'll find convenient Open Interest information on the Quote Detail, Watch List, Futures Chains, and Xpress / FleX Charts pages.

- More Convenience: Use the new Saved Orders function to “park” your frequently used orders so they can be used repeatedly in the future, quickly and easily.

- Better Futures Options: Trade ratio option spreads, run hypothetical option margins on the Trade Calculator, and see the dollar value of each option – along with expiration date and days until expiration – on the Futures Options Chain page.

- Preferred Mark-to-Market: Based on customer preferences, futures and futures options positions are now marked to the last or settlement price, rather than to the bid or ask price.

These improvements are just the tip of the iceberg in a great year ahead for futures trading at optionsXpress.

Remember, many of the changes you see are a direct result of feedback from our customers – so be sure to continue to share your ideas with us! Email us at info@optionsxpress.com or call 888.280.8020.

Use the Dragon to Search for Volatility

Historic volatility is defined as the annualized standard deviation of daily returns. What exactly does that mean? In layman's terms, it's the movement of a stock price without regard to direction over a specified period. If a stock is experiencing bigger daily stock price changes and higher historic volatility during a given period, it could be a sign of greater uncertainty to come.
The optionsXpress Dragon scanned the market at 12:00 PM EST today for the ten stocks with the highest Historic Volatility. The stocks below have been selected based on their historic stock volatility ranking and total option volume greater than 500 contracts. Historic volatility is based on 30-day averages.
